A great read, thank you. I can use more suggestions about reusing sound design! Sometimes it’s okay to just stash away the old things and focus on recent or just create new material from scratch right? I am still exploring my sound design and I find it exciting to experiment with different styles of sound. Perhaps it would be worth it if I just brainstormed and curated a collection of my own sounds to use as fx or for another purpose.
Even though I have spent hundreds of hours designing sounds I still feel I haven’t reached the level where I have a distinguished sound design though certainly I have started to identify a few signature characteristics that need to be further matured.
For sure, I think there’s a healthy balance between reusing and creating new things. Reusing is more efficient, creating new things is more exciting and can take you in new directions. Over time when you reuse things like Racks especially, you can also improve them slowly to make better versions of them, that you wouldn’t even have come across if you had started from scratch, so that’s another good thing that comes with reusing.
I never really got to the point where I feel like I have a “signature sound” or something like that, even though everyone says I do. I think it comes naturally because you just have certain techniques and ways to work
Yeah I agree with the last part. For you I’d say it’s not specifically the sound design but rather the overall style that’s the signature element, for example your focus on efficiency can be felt through the music. There’s also a sense of discipline that I feel from your music and that’s something I like.

That’s a great point.
Thank you so much for showing how to use multiple DAWs! I use FL, and I had no idea about Patcher or how to link multiple channels! Very useful
Glad it helps!! I used FL for my main DAW for years and I always keep up with the new updates
In Fl:
If you consolidate… I think its kind of freezing but you can mark your instruments and Patterns in the arranger view. Every wav is marked as consolidated and saved in a folder (with all the others).
Maybe usable for searching old sounds… in my case I use it to “freeze” Intruments too so it gets kinda messy.
class has been very helpful so far ! (and in the sessions ive skipped around to) just curious if you will ever touch on logic pro at all ? only using it becaause it was available to me and struggling to get templates/groups made in here.
