so i’m not big enough yet to really have to worry about this but i’m curious because i use a lot of sounds from video games. if you take an effect and pitch it down or something of that nature, would it then be okay to use it without having to worry about copyright laws?
Unfortunately not as far as I know 😕 Some websites suggest that you can do it if the sample is unrecognizable from the original, but otherwise technically it’s not legal.
You should definitely look into BFXR if you are looking to make Video game style FX.
For standard authentic chiptune-esque square and triangles, I recommend Magical 8-Bit Plugin 2 from YMCK
